Still No Phish Jokes

This story involves 50 marijuana plants, not an ocean of opium poppies or cargo container of coca leaves. I’m not criticizing a lack of prosecutorial zeal on the cannabis charges, I just find the story absurdly funny. Police receive a tip you are growing weed, bust you for possession of the weed and for illegally stocking largemouth bass, and you pay a larger fine for the fish? Imagine if the defendant spent the night in jail. “What are you in for?” “Armed robbery, assault, public drunkenness. You?” “Illegal bass.”

You can’t make this stuff up.

  1. One has to wonder if the charges for the fish would have been less severe had the fish not been soo…sexually active?? I’m sure that had to have an impact on it.

  2. why would he keep those bass in his backyard? What was their purpose, a giant fish tank? I guess if its illegal, then its illegal.

  3. Newsbreak, I just found out the real reason why he had all the fish. The guy was cultivating the pot because the band Phish promised to have start their comeback tour in his backyard (stay with me here). The Phish bassist was going to call the whole thing off because he lost his guitar and couldn’t get a new one. The owner of the house said, hang on a few days and I’ll have a few you can choose from…(Get it, the bassist lost his bass…yeah that was dumb).

  4. I used to buy from that guy. Once I was getting a dime bag and I couldn’t find a $10 bill. He said two fins would be fine.
No, I’m just kidding, I would never do drugs or associate with an illegal-fish-having-guy.

  5. As soon as I saw the word “Phish” associated with this story, I was compelled to read. As a huge Phish fan, I felt the urge to actually investigate a joke or connection between the story and an actual phish reference. Well I actually did find one connection. The lyrics to a Phish song called AC/DC Bag starts off like this “Mr. Palmer is concernced with a thousand dollar question…” The man accused of growing marijuana and illegally stocking fish name is Nicholas Palmer and was charged about a thousand dollars for his fishy business. Coincidence? or am I just too much of a nerd to actually find that connection. Let’s atleast hope they reunite in this guy’s backyard as Cujoespo predicts.
