The first thing we do, let’s prank all the lawyers*

Can Coca-Cola sue Coke Zero for taste infringement? That’s the premise of Coke Zero’s ad campaign, in which Coca-Cola hired actors, posing as company managers, to meet with Coke lawyers and discuss the taste infringement lawsuit. The meetings were filmed secretly. The trick is that the lawyers did not know they were being set up, and reacted to the possible lawsuit like lawyers. Coca-Cola released the resulting videos on, where else, YouTube. As a lawyer and teacher who has fielded his share of outlandish questions about lawsuits, I think the videos are very funny.

Thanks, AS.

Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some help from an established blog.
Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m
not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast.
I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure
where to start. Do you have any tips or suggestions?
    Appreciate it

These ads are so funny and excellent advertisement for Coke. I also really enjoyed the lawyer in the second clip that suggested beginning by writing a threatening letter – that one statement sums up the cliche of lawyers for me. I also enjoyed in the first the clip how angry the lawyer got as she started talking about Title VII and age discrimination. These clips really bring course concepts into persepective for me. Thanks!

This is an excellent ad campaign parodying lawsuits against copyright infringements. The idea of Coca Cola suing Coke Zero for a taste copyright is ridiculously funny. The lawyer who brings up Title 7 and age discrimination against a younger product is also hilarious. I think we need to have more of these types of commercials to show how some court cases today are based on ludicrous claims.

This can’t actually happen in real life right? How can “coca-cola” sue “coke zero” when they are created by the same company? This is the first thing that came to my mind when watching the videos. Makes me wonder why the lawyers that were getting video-taped didn’t think of it right off the bat!
